Global Entrepreneurship Week / Poland Worldwide youth entrepreneurship fest
At the 23rd of June 2008 preparations took off to organize the Week in Poland. The Honorary Committee, that is administered by Waldemar Pawlak, vice prime minister and the minister of Economy, appealed to the public to create a social environment supporting entrepreneurial attitudes and initiatives of young people in Poland. At the 23rd of June, 2008 the first sitting of the Global Entrepreneurship Week’s Honorary Committee took place in the Ministry of Economy. The meeting was led by Waldemar Pawlak, leader of the HC, and Henryka Bochniarz, leader of the Coordination Committee. The Committee members discussed the preparations to the Project’s organization. This project will consist of hundreds of various events that will be organized by the Coalition of the Enterprising. Any company, institution and natural person that will declare executing an action to promote youth entrepreneurship can become a member of the Coalition.The Committee Members appealed to „all government institutions, business and social organizations, research institutes, companies, managers and Media in Poland, to create a social environment supporting entrepreneurial attitudes and initiatives of young people. Make young people believe in themselves and their abilities, let them feel that the society supports them and that their ideas deserve kind attention”. Politics, scientists, business and social organizations leaders along with media representatives have all accepted the invitations to take part in the Honorary Committee’s work. The HC deeply hopes that the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Poland will set a new standard in the system of promoting entrepreneurial attitudes and initiatives among the young people in our country, as well as enable them to establish international contacts with fellow entrepreneurs abroad. A website www.tydzienprzedsiebiorczosci.pl has been created to help promote the Week. The website explains the projects foundations, as well as enables registering of Coalition of the Enterprising’s partners and will pair companies and schools that would like to organize a meeting together. How was the Global Entrepreneurship Week idea born? Its founders are GB Prime Minister Gordon Brown along with a British government-business organization „Make Your Mark” and the CE of American Kauffman’s Foundation – Carl Schramm. They wanted to promote the experiences of Enterprise Week in the UK and in the USA. Various governments and business organizations responded to their call, making it the world’s biggest youth entrepreneurship promoting event. From 17th to 23rd of November 2008 millions of people will take part in projects organized by thousands organizations in hundreds of world’s cities. The mission to organize the first edition of the Worldwide Youth Entrepreneurship Week in Poland Has been given to the Polish Confederation of Private Entrepreneurs Lewiatan along with the PCoPE Lewiatan youth forum, The project has been initiated, and the makers cordially invite anyone interested to join.Global Entrepreneurship Week is a joint initiative of a vast number of countries, thus a global, entrepreneurship friendly environment will be created. The Week will also be an occasion for creative people from all over the world to establish contacts and try their might in global-scale projects.For the time from 17th do 23rd of November the GEW organizers are planning global and local initiatives – starting with the „Global Entrepreneur of the Year” contest, from international business games, exhibitions of some of the innovative companies’ achievements to meetings with entrepreneurs, seminars, contest for countries and TV debates. GEW
At the 23rd of June, 2008 the first sitting of the Global Entrepreneurship Week’s Honorary Committee will take place in the Ministry of Economy. Waldemar Pawlak, vice prime minister and the minister of Economy will be the leader of the Committee.The leader of the HC and Ms. Henryka Bochniarz, the President of the PCoPE Lewiatan invited other Ministers, Economists, leaders of non-governmental organizations, editors of the most important media in Poland and famous entrepreneurs to participate in the organization of the GEW in Poland. At the 23rd of June, a website of GEW will be established. PCoPE Lewiatan as a main organizer of the Week is currently negotiating with several partners about specific events that will take place during the 17-23 November period. One of the initiatives proceeding the GEWiP is a journalist contest, organized by the PCoPE Lewiatan and the Local Newspapers Association, for an article about youth entrepreneurs that decided to run a company and by that step changed their life dramatically. The contest winners will be acknowledged by the end of June, and the most interesting entrepreneurs will be presented to the Polish media.

56 countries - 1 common idea
The initiative of Global Entrepreneurship Week belongs to the prime minister of Great Britain – Gordon Brown and Sir Carl Schramm from Kauffman Foundation. Since now the event was organised in USA and Great Britain. In this year this great event involves 56 countries including Poland. Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan with Youth Forum PKPP Lewiatan are in the position of main host and leader of Global Entrepreneurship polish edition. This is a huge chance for Poland to build polish entrepreneurial society.

It will enable the application and registration of any possible initiative due to the STPwP and providing with any necessary information about our present activities. Global Entrepreneurship Week is considered to be the biggest entrepreneurship event in Poland. During 17- 23 of November 2008 thousands of people will take part in many projects prepared in Poland.We have already set the Coalition of Entrepreneurs, which includes supporting institutions of certain activities, media and student organizations. Kronenberg Foundation, Civil Development Forum (FOR), Advertising Agencies Association, IBM Poland, Academic Incubators of Entrepreneurship, ELSA Poland, Student Association WIGGOR, Student Forum BCC and Copernicus Institute are supporting organizations during Global Entrepreneurship Week in Poland (STPwP). Also The Honorable Committee was formed, which bands the greatest authorities of politics, business and entrepreneurship as well as celebrities. We do either count on the help and honorable patronage of polish government. This great initiative allows also other organizations, which are ready to promote entrepreneurial attitudes, and acknowledge the economic activity as the attractive way of life. We are ready to welcome all sponsors, for whom the entrepreneurship is an essential social value and opt for promoting it among young people to develop their potential.
