Event Name: Skills@Work Contest
Posted by: maria
Sponsored by: Junior Achievement Bulgaria
Event Description:
In the autumn and winter of 2008-09 we will organise a series of entrepreneurship competitions for young people aged 15-18 in vocational schools in 9 countries in South East Europe and the UK. The competition is called the Skills@Work Challenge, and is a national and international competition to encourage young people to use their skills in enterprising and innovative ways, ultimately increasing their employability and entrepreneurial flair. The “Skills at Work” Challenge is based on Junior Achievement’s model of intensive idea-generating innovation camps where students gather to address a specific business issue, and to come up with ideas for solutions. They are provided with a few hours, access to tools, information and resources. The team members may not know each other, and so will have to adapt to each other quickly and find out how to work together most efficiently. While applying the principle of “Learning by Doing”, students will be able to develop their interpersonal as well as problem-solving skills and learn to work under very tight deadlines.
