Event Description:
UTILUS - Business School for Tourism and Hotel Management, Zagreb, Croatia, celebrates its fourth anniversary on 21 November 2008. The School educates students who will work in tourism and hotel industry and its curriculum is tailored to serve the needs of Croatian economy. Its teachers carry out research in hospitality industry and publish professional and scientific papers and books in this field. The School publishes a bilingual Croatian-English journal: Acta Turistica Nova. The first generation of the Schools' students has just completed their studies. UTILUS is a member of the Association of Small and Mid-size Entrepreneurs of Croatia. Numerous analysts in the world and the international media have recently emphasised that Croatia is one of the tourist destinations with the greatest prospects. There has been a keen interest in the country to educate potential entrepreneurs who will work in tourism and hotel industry. This was also the objective of the Business School UTILUS whose dean, Professor Vukonić, was for decades a professor at the University of Zagreb, was twice appointed a dean of its Faculty of Economics and Business, and is a member of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism. Professor Vukonić established the UTILUS Business School and gathered distinguished Croatian tourism and economic experts who teach at the School and undertake research. The School has designed several tourism development projects on the level of local government, and the projects co-financed by the EU accession funds
