Cause the Chicks Dig It

women2.jpg“‘Cause the chicks dig it” is the refrain to my little sister’s favorite country song. It is also the refrain that keeps popping into my head when reading about women’s entrepreneurship. There are a multitude of women out there who regardless of their ethnicity, talent, predilections or language just enjoy being entrepreneurs.

I recently came across an event being held by Microsoft called Vision to Venture which holds sessions about how to make your start-up more successful while bringing in prominent entrepreneurs to act as mentors!

On a similar note , I learned about a program called Women for Women International which has to date helped 30,000 women survivors of war move towards economic self-sufficiency. This non-profit is doing incredible things and its founder, Zainab Salbi, is herself a start-up entrepreneur who has made a voice for post-conflict women.

Ladies who Lunch is a site devoted to women and entrepreneurship. They feature women with inspiring stories, create incubators and publish articles specifically aimed at woman.

I’m not surprised by the fact that so many women are out there doing amazing entrepreneurial things. What I am shocked by is that almost all of these sites are devoted to “older women” or “mommy entrepreneurs”. There are a lot of young females who are interested in and involved in entrepreneurial endeavors. Does anyone have recommendations on good sites to help them become involved? We want to feature them here on Global Entrepreneurship Week’s blog! After all, the more girls know about entrepreneurship, the more they’ll dig it.
