Nick Donofrio of IBM starts the speednetworking sessionJust two weeks ago, on November 13, in London, we officially kicked off Global Entrepreneurship Week. Representatives from 24 different countries made the trip to London to learn about and help plan the Week. For most of the day Hosts, potential Hosts, Global Partners and others interested in the initiative discussed and brainstormed ways to make Global Entrepreneurship Week even better as they learned all the nitty-gritty details of what the Week is.

The official Launch of the initiative occurred with comments about how Global Entrepreneurship Week can change the world from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Kauffman Foundation president Carl Schramm. Over 100 people, including press and others wishing to catch a glimpse of one of the world’s most powerful people, packed into a small room to kick of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The Planning and Launch could not have gone any better. We got some amazing suggestions from the delegates as to how we can improve the initiative and make the Week a truly successful global celebration. But from behind the scenes it could not have been any more hectic. Mark and I were awake and at the hotel at 5 am (after staying up till 2 am to put the final touches on things) to get everything set up. During the actual event, I ran around making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to see most of the planning event due to small details that needed to be seen to outside the doors of the room. In the end, I was even late for the session that I had committed to talk about, activities. But to have the chance to meet, in person, many of the people that I had been exchanging emails with for the weeks prior was fantastic. In addition to see the Prime Minister launch the initiative that we started is pretty unbelievable.
